We’re part of the way through our Vacation Bible School week as I write this morning. I’m rejoicing to report that I’ve seen clear evidence of God’s grace and blessing this week as dozens of volunteers are serving hundreds of children from all around our community. Nearly every inch of the campus is alive with ministry as our adults and the kids are learning, singing, playing, and laughing together. This work even extends to homes as our high school group gathers each night. As we celebrate God’s grace through His work on our campus, I want to call us to extend our gaze and our work beyond this week in two ways.
First, our work to follow-up with children who respond to the gospel and with families without a church home who participate this week is only the beginning. Please pray for staff, elders, and deacons as we seek to harvest gospel fruit in the weeks ahead. In addition, if you’re interested in joining in this work, please contact Gretchen Smith in our church office at We’d love to work together.
Second, let this week be a reminder and a call for us to see the need and opportunity for the gospel all around us. Jesus words for His disciples in John 4 are appropriate in our day. Let us “lift up [our] eyes and see that the fields are white for harvest.” I pray the Lord will give us an overwhelming burden for our unbelieving friends and a renewed zeal to share Christ with them.
We thank God for His work this week and we anticipate His continued work in the weeks ahead. Will you join us in praying, expecting, and working toward this end?
